
Casey Bird, the suspect who is accused of causing a fatal crash early Sunday morning that
killed London Police Officer Logan Medlock, made his first appearance in court Monday morning.
The judge in the case set bond to $1 million in an arraignment hearing that took place
under a minute, inside the Laurel County courthouse. Byrd entered a not guilty plea and said nearly nothing during his arraignment.
Byrd is accused of being under the influence of alcohol when he crashed into the vehicle of London Police officer Logan Medlock, resulting in his death.
It’s reported that the arrest citation states Byrd failed his breathalyzer test and he claimed to be a federal officer during his arrest. A preliminary hearing has been set for Election Day, November 8 th at 11am. Police can testify in this hearing.
