Two Kentucky men were recently arrested and charged following accusations that they broke into storage units and stole millions of dollars in ginseng.

32-year-old Daniel Scott, of Louisville, and 46-year-old William McCane, of Frankfort, are now facing multiple charges after police say they broke into several storage facilities- as well as storage sheds.

Officials claim the men are suspected of stealing over $3 million worth of ginseng, a medicinal plant used to strengthen the immune system and help fight off stress and disease.

In one instance, the two men are accused of breaking into River Storage at Freys Hill Road in late August. While there, they allegedly pushed out two 55-gallon barrels filled with high-quality ginseng.

The owner informed officers that the total value of the ginseng was close to $109,700.

Scott made an appearance in court on Tuesday morning. A judge placed his bond at $50,000.

Scott and McCane are both scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
