Officials in Pulaski County are investigating a house fire that left one person dead.

The fire broke out on Thursday at a home in Burnside on Antioch Avenue.

The victim was identified by Coroner Clyde Strunk as 76 year old Jewell Lester.

According to the coroner, Lester’s daughter and grandson were also inside the house during the fire.

Lester’s daughter and grandson weren’t able to free Lester from the house before they escaped as they were overcome with smoke. Lester and her dog stayed behind.

According to her daughter, Lester has dementia and was afraid of moving fast due to breaking her hip from a fall.

Lester’s body was sent for an autopsy in Frankfort.

It’s not yet known what caused the fire.
