A man out of Southern Kentucky is now facing a list of charges following a chase with police.
Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies made note of a car that failed to stop for a stop sign at the
intersection of Meadow Creek and Dodson Hollow Roads.

Deputies also noticed the car crossing over into the opposite lane of traffic while turning onto
Highway 1619.

A traffic stop was initiated with the driver, 55-year-old James Cowan, of Monticello, failing to
stop and continuing to weave in and out of both lanes of traffic.

Officers are said to have spotted Cowan throwing something from the vehicle during the chase.

The pursuit ended on Frazer Chapel Road with deputies taking the suspect into custody
following a brief struggle.

The item that was thrown from Cowan’s vehicle was recovered, with officers discovering it
contained meth residue.

Cowan faces charges of speeding, reckless driving, fleeing or evading police, two counts of
wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, DUI, tampering with physical evidence, driving on a
suspended license, and running a stop sign.

He is currently being held in the Wayne County Detention Center.
