A man out of Lawrence County is now in jail after police say he physically intervened in an argument between a husband and wife. He allegedly beat the wife and stabbed the husband.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at a home on Three D Road, over a report of an alleged stabbing.

Upon their arrival, the wife informed police that she was in an argument with her husband when 25-year-old Philip Hart, of Louisa, began to punch her in the face, then proceeded to climb on top of her and choke her.

The husband is said to have attempted to stop the attack. Hart is said to have then pulled out a knife, which he allegedly used to stab the man several times.

The wife is said to have received a knot on her head and a cut on her chin. The husband had received stab wounds in his pelvis and thigh area.

Hart was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, and first-degree strangulation.
