The Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter in Hazard is hosting a candlelight vigil Tuesday, December 20 at 6:30 pm.

The shelter is hosting the vigil to gather people in prayer, as the shelter is nearly double capacity and can’t adopt or send animals to rescues as fast as they are coming in.

The shelter has said that they have nearly 300 animals when the shelter is only suited to take in a maximum of 175.

They ask that the community come together and pray for hope and that they can care for these animals and find them new homes.
