Man Arrested Following Lengthy Chase With Police On Bulldozer

An update from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office:

 

Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Taylor McDaniel along with London City Police Officer Dillion Blair and London City Police Officer Ben Webb arrested Casey Reed age 40 of London on Thursday morning December 15, 2022 at approximately 10:06 AM.

The arrest occurred in a wooded area off Bert Allen Road approximately 3 miles east of London while Laurel Sheriff’s Detective McDaniel attempted to serve 3 felony warrants, including a probation violation warrant. Detective Daniel encountered Casey Reed on a bulldozer pushing dirt in his backyard. When Detective McDaniel attempted to make contact with Reed, he fled- driving the bulldozer through a field and into the woods. Following a long chase by Detective McDaniel and City PD officer’s Blair and Webb, Detective McDaniel was able to jerk the door of the dozer open and remove Reed from the cab, placing him under arrest. During the chase, Detective McDaniel noted that Reed was pushing trees over causing great danger to officers in the foot pursuit.

Casey Reed was charged with fleeing or evading police – first-degree – motor vehicle; two counts of wanton endangerment – first-degree – police officer is victim; resisting arrest; and menacing. In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel Circuit Court bench warrant of arrest charging probation violation regarding charges of theft by unlawful taking – farm equipment. In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel Circuit Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of receiving stolen property and persistent felony offender II; this subject was also charged on two Laurel Circuit Court bench warrants of arrest- charging failure to appear in court regarding child support.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
