The Prestonsburg Police Department and the Prestonsburg Fire Department responded to a call on Sunday of a structure fire at a residence on Jane Brown Branch.

During the investigation, a person was found outside the residence with severe injuries. The person was sent to the University of Louisville Medical Center where they died from their injuries.

Detective Dennis Hutchinson is actively investigating the incident.
