An update from the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department:

 

On 12/24/22, deputies were dispatched to a single  vehicle collision at exit 15. Upon the deputies arrival, it was suspected that the operator was under the influence. Kentucky State Police Trooper Logan Mallory and Whitley County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation and placed the male under arrest. During the investigation, the male made a statement:

”where I am from, you can drink while driving.”

 

Norman Mendoza, 29 yo, of Georgia was arrested and charged with  Alcohol DUI, Open Alcoholic Beverage In Motor Vehicle, and No Operator’s license. He has been lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
