A press release from the Wise County Sheriff’s Office:

 

On January 3, 2023, the Wise County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call in the 8000 block of Main Street in Pound, in the area of Roberts Brothers Tire.  Information received via the 911 call was that an adult female subject was bleeding and screaming for help, with an unknown cause of injury.  

 

Patrol Deputies with the Wise County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, and preliminary observations revealed that the female had numerous stab wounds and lacerations on her person.  The female was provided medical attention by Pound Rescue Squad personnel, and transported to a medical facility for further treatment.

 

Wise County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded to further investigate the incident.  Information gathered from the investigation revealed that the female was a victim of a violent assault.  The investigation also lead to the identification of a suspect that was located and taken into custody without incident by WCSO Patrol Deputies. 

 

The Suspect is identified as Kerry Wynn of Main Street in Pound.  Wynn was charged with Aggravated Malicious Wounding and Attempted 2nd Degree Murder.  He is currently held with no bond at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail-Duffield.  The Victim in this incident received additional medical treatment and is recovering from her injuries.
