An update form the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department:

Sunday evening, Lieutenant Wayne Bird responded to a single-vehicle collision on I-75 at mile point 6 north. Following an investigation, it was determined the operator was driving under the influence. A search of the vehicle yielded suspected drugs. Lieutenant Bird also determined that two passengers in the vehicle were less than ten years old.

The operator’s driving history showed he had been previously convicted of DUI on more than 4 occasions.

Chet Bailey, age 44, of Hazard KY was arrested and charged with: Felony DUI 4th offense, two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, two felony counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, and another felony for Possession of a controlled substance.
