A man formerly associated with a number of drug treatment clinics throughout Eastern Kentucky, recently lost his appeal for charges of federal health care fraud and wire fraud charges.

37-year-old Eugene Sisco III, of Pikeville, was found guilty by a jury in November of 2021- determining Sisco had improperly billed Medicaid patients up to $300 per month, even though Medicaid had already covered those expenses. Additionally, the jury found he had ordered thousands of unnecessary drug tests.

Following his conviction, Sisco was sentenced to 10-years in prison in addition to being ordered to pay nearly $9 million in forfeiture and restitution fees.

Recently, Sisco took his case to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals with the intention of challenging his conviction on several different grounds. However, the panel found no errors in his case and chose to uphold his conviction and sentence.

Sisco is currently serving his prison sentence at the Ashland federal prison. His release is scheduled for January of 2031.
