Coach Mike Collins, age 77 of Flat Gap, Kentucky passed away Friday, January 6, 2023 at Paintsville ARH Hospital. Born August 31, 1945 in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Carl Collins and Polly Wells Collins.

 

Coach Collins was a legendary baseball coach at Johnson Central High School for 23 years.

 

Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Tuesday, January 10, 2023 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Skaggs Town Cemetery at Flat Gap, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 3:00pm to 9:00pm Monday and anytime prior to the service on Tuesday. Aaron Davis will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Johnson Central Home Run Club (@ 251 North Mayo Trail, Paintsville, Kentucky 41240).
