A man out of Magoffin County is now in custody following accusations he raped a child.

 

26-year-old Jared Owens, of Flat Branch, was arrested on Tuesday evening and then lodged into the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center. He currently faces charges of one count of first-degree rape and one count of first-degree sexual abuse.

 

The age of the girl who allegedly accused Owens was not released.

 

First-degree rape carries a maximum prison-sentence of 20-years or a victim who is 12 or older, and a maximum of either 50-years or life-in-prison for victims under the age of 12.
