An update from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office:
On Wednesday, January 11th, 39-year-old Danielle Kelly was arrested on a Laurel Circuit Court Murder Indictment warrant and three counts of assault in the first-degree – based on an investigation conducted by Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Brad Mink.
Agencies involved in the search for Kelly included the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, London City Police, and the Kentucky State Police.
Danielle Kelly was indicted by a Laurel County Grand Jury on November 18 of last year, on charges of one count of murder and three counts of assault in the first-degree.
These indictments came following a traffic crash which occurred on September 14, 2021- in which Kelly was allegedly driving a Trailblazer that struck two other vehicles on US 25. The crash killed 44-year-old Tiffany Smith, of London, who was a passenger in the Trailblazer. Another passenger in the Trailblazer was severely wounded alongside two passengers from the Chevy Tahoe, which was struck head-on.
An investigation determined Kelly was under the influence of illegal narcotics at the time of the crash. Kelly failed to appear in court and was being sought after as a fugitive.
She is currently lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
