
An update from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office:
Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Noah Ritchie along with Deputy Byron Grimes, Deputy Austyn Weddle, and Deputy Cyruss McVey arrested Brian Roaden, age 42, of Waterworks Rd., London, on Tuesday evening January 24, 2023 at approximately 6:25 PM.
The arrest occurred at a residence off Old Way Road, approximately 5 miles east of London after deputies were dispatched to a possible burglary in progress there. Upon arrival at the scene deputies learned that allegedly family members had traveled to their mother’s residence there and upon approaching the residence a male subject fired shots out the back door. When deputies commanded individuals inside the residence to exit the residence, the home owner exited stating that a male subject armed with multiple firearms and possibly wanted on a warrant was inside the residence. Deputies were unable to get the male suspect to exit the residence and as deputies entered the residence they located a shotgun just inside the door.
While searching for the suspect inside the residence Deputy Byron Grimes observed a male subject hiding in a closet under clothing. The suspect would not exit the closet and following a brief scuffle with deputies was taken into custody. It was determined that the suspect was a parole violator.
- Brian Roaden was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; fleeing or evading police – first-degree – on foot; menacing; resisting arrest. In addition, this subject was charged on a Kentucky parole board mandatory reentry supervision violation warrant charging absconding parole supervision; failure to report to parole officer as directed regarding a conviction in Laurel Circuit Court on charges of receiving stolen property – firearm.
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
