Lawrence County Schools announced that the Louisa Middle School administration received an anonymous bomb threat this morning.

According to the announcement, the middle school was immediately evacuated and local law enforcement as well as the Kentucky State Police was contacted by the school. The school building was given a thorough assessment by law enforcement and determined there was no threat and it was safe for students to return to class shortly after 10 AM.

Superintendent Dr. Robbie Fletcher said he applauds students and staff of the middle school for their quick and orderly evacuation of the building. He also said he appreciates Kentucky State Police, Lawrence County Sheriff and Louisa City officers for their short response time.

He also said that two text messages and alerts were sent using their Apptegy system at parents and guardians of students during the event. Any parent and/or guardian who didn’t receive an alert is asked to provide a phone number to Lawrence County Schools so it can be added to their records.
