A man out of Pike County was recently sentenced to life-in-prison, after he was found guilty of smuggling drugs into the Pike County Detention Center, which resulted in the death of one person.
In October of last year, a jury found 38-year-old Justin Bryant, of Shelbiana, guilty of conspiracy to distribute heroin and fentanyl and distributing fentanyl- resulting in death.
The judge in that case also determined there was reliable evidence to connect Bryant to an additional overdose death, which happened two months earlier.
Bryant allegedly attempted to sneak drugs into the detention center on two other occasions, but was prevented from doing so by Pikeville Police and detention center staff.
Bryant also has an extensive criminal history which includes 30 convictions over the past 20-years.
