An update form the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office:
According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron an investigation into a residential burglary has led to an arrest of a Monticello man.
The burglary investigation began on February 8, 2023, after the Sheriff Office received a report of a burglary with several items being taken from a residence and an outside garage located on Kentucky Highway 3284. On February 10, 2023, Deputy Joe Horne received a second report of a burglary at the same residence which occurred during the previous night. During this burglary the suspects’ photo was taken by a security camera that had just been installed. Through Deputy Horne’s investigation he was able to identify the suspect from the photograph.
After identifying the suspect Deputy Horne along with Sheriff Catron located the suspect inside a residential garage located on West Kentucky 90. While interviewing the suspect Deputy Horne and Sheriff Catron noticed several items inside the garage that appeared to have been taken from the burglaries. After confronting the suspect about the items, he then admitted to the burglaries. Several other items were then located inside a next-door residence. These items included several tools, jacks, a chain saw, a weed eater, a leaf blower, guitars with an amplifier, a banjo, a flat screen tv, a clothing item, an air-cooled engine and several other miscellaneous items.
The items were valued at several thousands of dollars. The items are believed to have been taken over a 3-day period.
