London Woman Arrested On DUI, Drug Possession Charges

An update from the City of London Police Department:

 

Rebecca Anne Murphy, 42, of Ham Hollow Road, London, was arrested by London Police K9 Officer Jonathan Jackson at 9:43 p.m. on Broad Street.

 

According to Ofc. Jackson’s report, he observed Murphy’s vehicle disregard a stop sign. After conducting a traffic stop, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver had red glossy eyes, slurred speech and could not provide any requested vehicle documentation.

 

He asked the driver to step out of the vehicle and she grabbed something out of her pocket and put it in the door, which was found to be a pack of cigarettes with a hand rolled green leafy substance thought to be marijuana.

 

Further search of the vehicle produced a zip bag with several miscellaneous pills and another plastic baggie with crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. Glass containers with suspected marijuana also were found in the passenger floor board.

 

Murphy failed several field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, disregarding a stop sign, failure to produce insurance card, failure to maintain insurance and no registration receipt.

She was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center. Ofc. Jackson was assisted in the arrest by Officer Dylan Messer.
