A fatal shooting that happened over the weekend in Perry County is currently under investigation by Kentucky State Police.

According to officials, troopers in the City of Hazard responded to a residence on Gambill Drive.

Troopers discovered 29 year old Ryan Whitaker in the driveway of the home, with multiple gunshot wounds. Whitaker was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives opened an investigation and discovered that Whitaker was in an argument with 27 year old Troy Campbell. The argument escalated as Campbell fatally shot Whitaker.

Campbell has been arrested and charged with murder and was placed in the Kentucky River Regional Jail. 

The case is still under investigation.
