An update from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office:

 

Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff’s K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler arrested Bridgett Carrie Evans age 46 of Corbin on Friday evening March 3, 2023 at approximately 5:51 PM. 

 

The arrest occurred in a parking lot off East Laurel Rd. in London after off duty K-9 Deputy Brian France observed a white Nissan Altima with mud down the side of it sitting in a parking lot off East 80. He noted being aware that earlier deputies had attempted to locate a white Nissan Altima involved in an apparent vehicle collision off Parker Road. However when deputies arrived at the scene of the reported crash a vehicle could not be located. 

 

Sgt. Mehler responded to the location off East 80 and observed the vehicle sitting in the parking lot with the driver slumped over the driver’s wheel. Sgt. Mehler noted the passenger window was down and he detected the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from it. 

 

Upon awakening the driver Sgt. Mehler noted detecting the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the driver and conducted an investigation determining that she was under the influence. 

 

Bridgett Carrie Evans was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense and was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
