An update from the City of London Police Department:
A London man gave police officers a wrong name after he was pulled over for a traffic violation, due to the fact that he had an outstanding arrest warrant and a suspended license for prior DUI convictions.
Mike Ray Lawson, 52, of South Main Street, London, was arrested by London Police Ofc. Wade Mitchell, with assistance from Ofc. Wes Wolfe, at 12:40 p.m. on March 3 while driving along East Fifth Street.
Upon stopping the subject for a traffic violation, Lawson said he didn’t have any identification, and gave a name and a Social Security number that matched. But the height, weight and eye color in the photo he provided did not match the name.
After he was arrested, Mitchell finally admitted to lying and gave his real name. He was charged with driving on a DUI suspended license, giving an officer false identifying information, failure to maintain insurance and failure to wear seat belts.
