The Knott County Fiscal Court received a letter last week that notified them that the county’s main emergency medical service provider, Lifeguard Ambulance Service, will be leaving the area entirely by June 17th.

In a meeting the Knott County Fiscal Court held on Monday, Knott County Judge-Executive Jeff Dobson informed the court of the letter.

Fiscal court officials said the reason why Lifeguard Ambulance Service is leaving the county is not exact at this time and the fiscal court is currently seeking mutual aid agreements with other agencies.

Nothing has been confirmed on whether or not the county is planning to purchase their own ambulance equipment.
