A man out of Jackson County was recently sentenced to life in prison following being convicted on several charges including murder, attempted murder, abuse of a corpse and kidnapping.

Lonnie Belt pleaded guilty to all charges Yesterday during mediation.

Belt admitted to kidnapping Jesse Durham and her five year old son named James and took them to a wooded area. Belt pushed Jesse off a cliff and beat James to death.

Jesse managed to survive from the fall but was severely injured.

Belt was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole.
