Man in Letcher Arrested and Charged with Drug Offenses after Police Find Marijuana and Suboxone

A man in Letcher County was arrested Tuesday night after a car chase with police led to drugs being discovered in the man’s car.

The Jenkins Police Department responded to a complaint of a man harassing someone at Blush Beauty Bar. 

According to police, the suspect, Anthony Puett, jumped into his vehicle and drove off at a high rate of speed when he noticed K-9 officer Sgt. Tim Miller arrived on the scene.

Sgt. Miller was assisted by Pikeville Police and Pike County sheriff’s deputies when the chase crossed over into Pike County. The chase ended when Puett stopped near Dorton and was removed from his vehicle.

After K-9 Voxie alerted officers of the presence of drugs inside of the vehicle, police discovered marijuana and Suboxone.

Puett was arrested and charged with two counts of wanton endangerment, speeding, fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and traffic offenses. He was placed in Letcher County Jail.
