A teacher in Rowan County is being sued by a student who claims she was sexually abused by the teacher.

According to the lawsuit,  Rowan County High School Teacher and assistant basketball coach, Andrew Zaheri, had sexually abused a female student-athlete of Rowan County High School.

The lawsuit claims that superintendent John Maxey and principal Jordan Mann ignored reports about Zaheri alleged misconduct.

The investigation into the matter is being handled by Kentucky State Police and Zaheri has been put on administrative leave.

The Rowan County School District has not publicly commented on the lawsuit.
