A Letcher County Man was arrested for drug trafficking after police responded to reports of a man being held at gunpoint
According to police, the reports led them to a pair of campers located on Appletree Branch Road in the Cornettsville community. When police arrived at the scene, there was no one held at gunpoint. Instead, there were four people in a dispute over an eviction.
The state trooper who arrived on the scene explained to the four people that eviction would require them to go through court. The trooper then noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from a truck.
The officer looked inside the truck and discovered a partially smoked joint, 35 grams of meth, a small amount of cocaine, spoons, needles and bags.
The owner of the truck, 60 year old Jerry Allen Wells admitted to the officer that the items belonged to him. Wells was arrested on charges of trafficking meth, cocaine possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Letcher County Jail.
