The City of Pikeville hosted an active shooter training seminar at Pikeville High School on Tuesday as well as smaller training exercises throughout the community for police and EMS responders.

According to officials, the training will ensure that Pikeville first responders will be knowledgeable on the most effectives responses in an active shooter situation.

Officials also said they hope an active shooter situation will never happen, but they still believe it is crucial that Pikeville first responders know how to safely stop an active shooter in order to further protect the City of Pikeville.
