arrest-8

A man out of Pike County was arrested over the weekend after lying to police about him getting bit by a snake.

On Saturday night, a state trooper spotted 43 year old Billy Evans on the side of the road near Belfry, approached him and asked if he needed help.

According to the trooper’s report, Evans was carrying a copperhead and told the officer he was bitten by the snake before he threw it into the weeds. Evans showed the officers a place on his arm where he claimed the snake bit him.

Evans was taken to Tug Valley ARH to be treated but a doctor who examined the wound revealed that Evans had wounded himself with a knife.

Evans allegedly became aggressive towards the officer when the officer questioned him about the wound after the doctor claimed Evans wounded himself.

Evans was arrested and charged with menacing and filing a false report
