
A man in Magoffin County is facing up to 50 years in prison after being charged with rape, sodomy, and sex abuse of a child under 12 years old.
Kentucky State Police Post 9 was conducting an investigation into 30 year old Stuart Horton for sexually abusing his step-daughter. Police asked Horton to undergo a lie-detector test.
Horton became apologetic after the test and began admitting to police that he did commit these crimes. According to police, Horton admitted to abusing his step-daughter, starting when she was 8 or 9 years old and he continued to do so until 2021.
Horton is facing up to 40 years in prison for the rape and sodomy charges as each charge carries potential sentences of 10 to 20 years in prison. He is also facing up to 10 years in prison for the sex abuse charge as it carries a sentence of 5 to 10 years in prison.
Horton was placed in the Pike County Jail and the case will be presented to a Magoffin County grand jury
