In loving memory of Alma Lea Messer Ferguson Colegrove age 76 went home to be with the Lord on Friday June 9,2023 at her home in Glen Allen, VA., Alma was born January 4,1947 in Breeden, WV to the late James Leo Messer and Martha Hodge Messer.
Alma is proceeded in death by two sons Timothy Leslie Ferguson and Johnny Ferguson, one grandson Donald Newsome Jr, great-granddaughter Emily Renee Wellman, niece Dawn Michelle Vance, great nephew Dylan Lee Allman.
Alma was a retired social worker with an associate degree from Southern WV Community College, Masters Degree in Social Work from Marshall University, worked at Dignity Hospice in Chapmanville, WV; Social Worker for Social Services in Wayne, WV. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother with an unforgettable smile and unconditional love for each of us. She had a very kind heart but was very strong willed when it was something she truly believed in. She provided solid advice to her children and others. Our precious mom loved to have long conversations with her children and even on the phone with mothers witty sense of humor, no one was ever able to outwit her. She never met anyone she didn’t like. Random strangers became lifelong friends. We were blessed with our mother for what seemed like a short period of time. One day, we will see her again in our heavenly home where we will spend eternal life together.
Alma is survived by her spouse; Leslie Ferguson of Dingess, WV, son; Gregory Allen (Mary) Ferguson of Chapmanville, WV, daughters; Donna Ferguson of Glenn Allen, VA, Emily Ann (Steve) Wellman of Glen Allen, VA, Martha Elaine (Donald) McCoy of Dingess, WV, grandchildren; Brandon(DeeDee) Ferguson of Charleston, WV,Austin (Georgianna) Ferguson of Charleston, WV; Jacqlyn (Kyle) Endicott of Dingess, WV, Christian (Abbie) Wellman of Glenn Allen, VA, Timothy Newsome of Dingess, WV, Joshua Macon of Glenn Allen, VA, Hunter Wellman of Glen Allen, VA, great grandchildren; Abel Ferguson, Eli Ferguson, Joel Ferguson, Lydia Ferguson, Sammi Endicott, Amelia Endicott, Natalee Endicott, Baby Macon, Baby Ferguson, brothers; Lloyd (Mary Ellen) Messer, James Randy (Alice) Messer, sisters; Phyllis Clay, Tennie (Harold) Johnson, Bonnie (E.J.) Maynard and one special niece Terry (Vance) Brayant and many other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, June 16, 2023, at the House of Prayer with Pastor David Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Rest High on the Mountian in Genoa, WV. Friends may visit the church on Thursday after 6pm.
