A teenager from Magoffin County passed away over the weekend after drowning at Paintsville Lake in West Liberty.

The 16 year old boy died on Saturday when he was swimming in the lake with friends near the Lost Creek Boat Ramp.

Wolfe County Search and Rescue Dive Team, Grayson Fire Department Dive Team, and several other agencies in the area responded to the scene.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resource Law Enforcement Division is conducting an investigation into the incident. 

The boy was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.
