Charlene Newman Adkins, age 95, was born at Weeksbury, Kentucky June 19, 1927, the daughter of the late Charles and Myrtle Bates Newman. She passed from this world Friday June 16, 2023 at her residence at Cedar Creek Assisted Living in Pikeville, Kentucky. Charlene was a member of Pikeville First Baptist Church and had formerly worked at the Pollyanna Drive-in and clerked at a grocery store. Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, John Jack Adkins.

Charlene is survived by: her son, John Adrian Adkins and his wife Betty who live in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, her twin sister and best friend, Ocelene Hall of Pikeville, Kentucky, usually when you saw one of the twins the other was with her in their latter years, one Grandchild, Adrian Blake and his wife Christy May Adkins of Richmond, Kentucky, four Great Grandchildren, Adrienne Michelle Peery, Kirsten Bevins, Christopher Blake Adkins, and Noah Blake Adkins, and two Great Great Grandchildren, Matilda Bevins, and Emmit Bevins.

The pallbearers will be; Michael Bevins, Cullen Hall, Gary Blake Owens, Robert Williams, Christopher Adkins, and Noah Adkins.

The visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Sunday June 18, 2023 at J. W. Call and Son Funeral Home.

Visitation will continue Monday with evening services at 7:00 P.M.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. June 20, 2023 with John Lucas officiating.

Entombment will follow at Johnson Memorial Park in Pikeville, Kentucky.
