Justin Matthew Hall, age 33 of Paintsville, Kentucky lost his long and hard-fought battle with
the disease of addiction and passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023. Born July 5, 1989 in
Paintsville, Kentucky, he was the son of Regina Hall McClure and Gary of Paintsville, Kentucky
and the late Rex Hall. In addition to his father, Justin is preceded in death by his paternal
grandmother, Peggy Mullett. He is survived by his mother and father, one brother, Josh Hall
and Kadeadra of Paintsville, Kentucky; maternal grandfather, James Ward of East Point,
Kentucky; two nieces, Pyper Reece Hall and Zeplyn James Hall. Also surviving are several
aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Justin was a 2008 graduate of Johnson Central High School and a 2019 graduate of Lindsey
Wilson College with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services and Counseling and most recently
he completed a training program in welding and was working as a millwright apprentice at
Millwright Local Union 1076. Justin spent most of his career serving those in recovery in
some capacity and was only one semester from earning his Masters Degree.
Growing up Justin participated in organized sports and gymnastics and was known as the
“best burnt CD maker” among his many friends. He loved pro-wrestling and would play for
hours with his toy rings and figures or pretending to wrestle his brother on their trampoline.
Justin participated on the Academic Team and Future Problem-Solving Team and he always
did well in high school, while maintaining a full-time job at Food City. He was a great dance
partner and always fashionably dressed, often rocking a pair of sunglasses.
Although he did not have any children of his own, he loved his nieces, Pyper and Zeplyn. He
would do anything they ask and get anything they wanted. He would often stop by with a
treat or a toy just to surprise them. His face always lit up when they came in to the room.
Justin had a great smile, and infectious laugh, and a big heart and he made an impact on many
people from those he went to school with growing up to those he helped seek treatment for
addiction. As a servant leader and encourager, he made people feel comfortable and accepted
them just as they were. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, June 21, 2023 in the chapel of the Phelps &
Son Funeral Home with Matt Brown, Steve Trimble and Mark McKenzie officiating. Burial will
