Larry Gene Day, age 77, of Shelbiana, KY., passed from this life, Sunday, June 25, 2023. Larry was born June 8, 1946, in Pike County, KY., to the late Theodore Day I and Edna Maxie “Tackett” Day.

Besides both parents, Larry is preceded in death by the love of his life, Violet June Carter; brother, Gary Day.

Larry is survived by his devoted children, Sherry Little, Edna Orvella King, Theodore Day II, and Larry Gene Day Jr.; grandchildren, Theodore Day III, Pete J. Goble, Jacob Wade Adkins, Joshua Day, and Megan Johnson; great grandchildren, Brooklyn Goble, Isabella “Bella” Day, MaKayla Day, MaKenzie Day, Joel Reed Mitchell, and Alaura Day; sister, Charlotte Day; along with a loving host of family and friends.

Larry served his Nation proudly in the United States Army. In addition to being an honored veteran, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.

Family will accept friends at the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, from 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM and Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM. Funeral Service for Larry will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023, in the Chapel of the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home starting at 11:00 AM with DAV Rites observed by Johns Creek DAV Chapter 166. Entombment will follow at Annie E. Young Cemetery in Pikeville KY. Donnie Hall will officiate all services for Larry.
