Walter Robinson 93 years of age of Booker Fork, Pikeville, passed away Friday, July 7, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family. Walter was born on February 20, 1930, in Pike County to the late Hobert and Lina (Wright) Robinson. He married Margarine “Margie” (Kiser) in 1953. They went on to have six children. Walter was a Korean War Army Veteran, a retired Bethlehem Steel coal miner, and a member of the UMWA. After retirement, Walter spent his time fishing, hunting for ginseng, fox, coon and squirrel hunting, and with his family, which was his greatest joy in life. Besides his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his loving wife; Margie, son; Ronnie, brothers; John Henry (the late Ruby) Robinson, Swanson (Eunice) Robinson, Shird (Carol) Robinson, and Robie (the late Nancy) Robinson, sisters Alka (the late Raymond) Hamilton, Pluma (the late Clark) Hamilton, Janice (Johnny) Elkins, and Mary Lou (Don) Manson, and one grandson; Jonathan Mullins. Walter is survived by his children; Verlin (Jeanne) Robinson of Virgie, Sterling (Glenna) Robinson of Lizze Fork, Brenda (the late Palmer) Hall of Indian Creek, Teresa Anderson of Booker Fork, Tommy Robinson of Lizze Fork, brothers; Virgil (Thelma) Robinson of Columbus, OH, Roland (Marilyn) Robinson of Columbus, OH, sisters; Yvonne (Larry) Damron of Robinson Creek, Carol (Billy) Tackett of Booker Fork, Donna (Johnny) Denison of Booker Fork, Janet (the late Rick) Newsome of Little Robinson Creek, Pamela Robinson of Pikeville, eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of loving family and friends that will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday at the Hall & Jones Funeral Home with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Booker Fork Cemetery at Caney. Visitation will begin on Sunday after 6:00PM at the Funeral Home. Monday night services will begin at 7:00PM. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hallandjones.com
