Eastern Kentucky Found Not Guilty On All Charges

A doctor in Johnson County who was on trial for healthcare fraud and other charges was found not guilty after a federal jury deliberated since before noon on Tuesday.

For the past 15 months, Dr. Loey Kousa has been accused of giving patients opioid prescriptions when they didn’t need them and administering unnecessary medical tests on patients.

The jury delivered a not guilty verdict Wednesday morning. Dr. Kousa was found innocent on all charges. These charges were five counts of unlawful drug distribution, two counts of lying in connection with healthcare benefits and two counts of healthcare fraud.
