FLOYD COUNTY (July 21, 2023) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises motorists of one-lane traffic and lengthy delays on KY 194 in Floyd County starting next week. The work site is located at mile point 2.3 (2.3 miles West of KY 1428) on the Prestonsburg side of Cow Creek Mountain.

GSI will work from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day. Work will consist of drilling railroad steel, installing cribbing, and backfilling with aggregate stone to rebuild the roadway to its original state. Due to the size of the equipment needed for these repairs, the public can expect long delays of upwards of 20 minutes at a time. Portable signal lights will control one-lane traffic during the duration of the work. The project is expected to take two weeks to complete. Schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.

Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route during working hours and pay close attention to signage and equipment parked in the work zone.
