The Kentucky Public Service Commission announced it has scheduled a hearing to review Mountain Water District’s request to increase water and sewer rates, which would result in revenue increasing by $3 million.
Under the proposal, the average customer’s water bill would increase to over $41, a big increase from the current average bill of $33.50.
Along with the bill increase, Mountain Water District also wants to add a $5.61 a month subcharge for 36 months. This is to pay for repairs in order to reduce the rate of water loss.
The proposed sewer rate increase would increase the sewer bill for customers to over $105 over two years.
The hearing to consider this proposal will start on Wednesday, August 16th at 9AM. The hearing will take place at the commission’s office in Frankfort.
