Kentucky State Police Update:

Whitesburg, KY (August 1, 2023) – On Monday, July 31, 2023, at approximately 11:39 P.M, Kentucky State Police, Post 13, Hazard, received a 911 call in reference to a female being located unresponsive, on Bald Mt. Rd. in the Whitesburg community of Letcher County.

Upon the arrival of Trooper’s, a female was located deceased. Preliminary investigation indicates that Patricia Deatherage, 40, of Whitesburg, fell over an embankment causing injury that resulted in death. Deatherage was pronounced deceased on scene by the Letcher County Coroner’s Office.

Deatherage was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort pending autopsy. Toxicology reports are pending at this time. No foul play is suspected, this incident remains under investigation by Detective Scott Caudill.
