LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Celebrating all things Kentucky, the Kentucky State Fair wouldn’t be complete without a chance to save local lives.

Kentucky Blood Center will once again offer an opportunity for fairgoers to donate blood at the 2023 Kentucky State Fair. KBC will be in the south wing of the Kentucky Exposition Center in Health Horizons booth B401 daily collecting blood donations.

“We are always excited to welcome back our loyal Fair donors and for the chance to introduce new faces to the experience of saving local lives at the Kentucky State Fair,” said Mandy Brajuha, VP of external relations at KBC. “As the largest community blood center in Kentucky, we are proud to be a staple of an event that means so much to Kentuckians.”

Daily appointments are available at kybloodcenter.org/events/kbc-at-the-2023-kentucky-state-fair, but walk-ins are also welcome.

All donors who give blood with KBC at the Kentucky State Fair will receive is a limited- edition “silipint” and a KBC T-shirt.

Blood donations help KBC supply blood to local hospitals for cancer treatments, premature births, car accidents, diseases, surgeries and more. KBC needs approximately 400 donors a day to meet the needs of local patients, and donations at the Kentucky State Fair can help put blood back on the shelves before Labor Day weekend when demand typically increases.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.
