James Kendell Cantrell age 74 of Flat Gap, KY died Thursday February 29, 2024. He was born May 15, 1949 to the late Arville and Ada Baker Cantrell. James was a delivery person for Pratt’s Foods. On January 14, 1972 in Clintwood, VA he married Betty Salyer Cantrell who precedes him in death. He is survived by one son: James (Iceman) Arville Cantrell of Flat Gap, KY, one brother: Goron Cantrell of Staffordsville, KY, five grandchildren: Kelsey Faith Gambill, Emily Welch, B.J. Estep, Wade (Kara) Ratliff and Matthew Ratliff, one great grand child: Brentey Estep, his adopted family Casey Ratliff and Heather Ratliff and a host of nephews, nieces, and a host of family and friends. Along with his wife and his parents he is also preceded in death by one daughter: Lori Cantrell and one brother: Ronnie Cantrell. Visitation will be held Saturday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the Preston Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel, with Tim Salyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Cantrell Cemetery in Flat Gap, KY.
