A psychiatrist from Pikeville who’s currently under federal indictment for allegedly distributing drugs without a legitimate medical purpose now appears to be ready to enter a plea. Jason Noah Stamper, 52, of Coal Run Village, was arrested in December of 2022, after authorities raided his home and office.
At that time, he was charged with drug trafficking and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia in Pike District Court. In May of 2023, a federal grand jury indicted him on four counts of distributing amphetamine, a charge that carries a potential penalty of 20 years in prison. Although he was initially allowed to post bond to get out of jail, he was held without bond in November, after he tested positive for meth.
He has been held in the Pike County Detention Center since then.
