Westbound lanes of the Mountain Parkway near mile marker 11 were shut down for more than four hours on Sunday. Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue said it was a single-vehicle crash involving a Lifeguard Ambulance. They believe the ambulance hit the guardrail and flipped off of the roadway. Officials say the crew was taking a patient from eastern Kentucky to U.K. Chandler Hospital when the accident happened. The patient died in the crash and an EMT also onboard was ejected from the ambulance and flown to U.K. Chandler Hospital with life-threatening injuries. They are listed in critical condition. The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
