While plans continue to turn the former Thunder Ridge property into an industrial site, potential clients are expressing an interest in the property, Prestonsburg Mayor Les Stapleton said. Stapleton updated the Prestonsburg City Council on the project during its meeting Feb. 26 after Councilman Shag Branham said, “a lot of people are out there saying stuff that maybe is not true.” Stapleton said the project, a joint venture between the city and the county, has received $3 million to purchase the Thunder Ridge property and another $2 million to develop it into an industrial site. “I will tell you this. In the last three weeks, I’ve had four different groups over there looking at that property,” Stapleton said.
Stapleton said the property has “a lot of assets,” including a 10-inch water line, a 10-inch gas line and two transmission lines.
