The attorney for one of the men charged in the Crystal Rogers murder case has filed a motion to get the charges dropped. Steven Lawson is charged with tampering with evidence and conspiracy to commit murder. Lawson’s attorney Theodore Lavit said they felt blind-sighted by the charges because he had agreed to testify in exchange for immunity in the case. In this new filing, Lavit says Lawson cooperated and answered questions from investigators and a grand jury three separate times between 2015 and 2023. The documents even list numerous recorded interactions during recorded police interviews where Lawson was offered immunity. That didn’t happen and Lawson was indicted last May, leading to this new motion to dismiss both charges against him. That decision will be made on or before March 21.
