DRIVING POORLY IN TRAFFIC LEADS TO AN ARREST FOR TRAFFICKING

A Pike County man pulled over for driving poorly was taken to jail for trafficking in pills.

A state trooper was patrolling U.S. 23 when he spotted a vehicle driven by Thomas Kiser, 52, of Pikeville, slip off of the roadway last Friday morning, so, he did his job and he pulled the car over. When it came to a stop, the trooper said Kiser tossed a cigarette out of his window, so he made him pick it up and cited him for littering. The officer then asked him why he was driving in such a poor manner, and Kiser explained that he was counting his money when he slipped off the road. He was then given a field sobriety test, which dictated he could be under the influence. The trooper also found Kiser with more than $1,200 in cash, as well as a bag containing a substantial amount of Neurontin in the center console of the vehicle. Kiser was arrested and charged with DUI, trafficking in legend drugs and other charges.
