The case against a former Magoffin County Schools teacher facing felony sexual abuse and rape charges has been referred to felony mediation. Anthony Taulbee, 47, of Middle Fork Road, in Salyersville, was in court Wednesday, where his Magoffin County case was referred to criminal mediation, where the prosecutor and his attorney will be in mediation with a retired judge to attempt to reach an agreement out of court, though no date has been set at press time for that meeting. Taulbee was indicted in Magoffin County Circuit Court in July 2023 and charged with one count of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of third-degree rape, both Class D felonies. According to the indictment, on or about March 1 through June 1, 2018, Taulbee allegedly subjected another person to sexual contact by forcible compulsion.
