A Johnson County woman is dead after her car went into a river. Vanessa Crum, 52, of Van Lear, was driving a 2023 Nissan Rogue on U.S. 23 when the SUV left the roadway, went over an embankment and went into the Levisa Fork River. Crum was pronounced dead by the Pike County Coroner’s Office. Kentucky State Police troopers were notified about a missing person Sunday afternoon. An investigation was started after Crum’s family became concerned when she did not report to work.
A ping of Crum’s cell phone allowed investigators to figure out where she potentially was.
An officer with the Pikeville Police Department was able to locate Crum’s vehicle.
